HYP Happenings

HYP hosts a variety of events throughout the year designed to keep our members engaged in the community and with each other.

On the third Thursday of every month, HYP hosts “HYP on Tap”, a Networking Social event held at different restaurants, bars, or businesses around town. HYP on Tap provides a comfortable environment with no agenda, allowing networking opportunities with other young professionals in a relaxed environment where you can loosen the tie a bit and de-stress from the workday, while getting to know other young professionals. These events are free and open to everyone, not just members. HYP on tap is great for new people who want to “check us out” and get to know people in the group.

Once per quarter, HYP hosts Inside the Metro Luncheon Series. During these events, we introduce HYP members to different community leaders in an intimate lunch-and-learn setting. Some of the format is modeled after Inside the Actors’ Studio where one featured guest sits with one interviewer and answers questions about their career, the choices they made to get where they are, advice they have for young professionals, and what inspires them.

HYP also hosts a variety of Professional Development events on various topics to help our members develop skills they can use every day. Sign up for our newsletter for more information regarding these events.

Launching in April 2015: HYP'penings! HYP’penings are member-hosted events held around town, or out of town, for social purposes. These are sponsored/hosted by a different HYP Member(s) each month. These events typically center around a topic or they are catered to the venue, and usually offer a more entertainment focus mixed with networking. These events are great for all members and guests, and not to mention fun!

You can host the next HYP’pening event! Just send the details to [email protected]

Downtown Living Interest Survey

One of the highest concerns from young professionals in our area is that we do not have enough urban housing within walking distant of Hickory's downtown district. And we completely agree! But do we have good news for you...

A local commercial real estate firm, in parnership with the Chamber of Commerce, have made plans to develop urban houseing within the downtwon district of Hickory. But they need your help! They have conducted a survey specifically targeted to young professionals, in order to understand the best style/size/ammenities for these housing units. That way they can provide the very best product to the community.

Young professionals, this is your chance to let your voice me heard! If you are at all interested in the development of downtown living options, please complete the following survey.

Thank you for your help! The results from the survey will assist the real estate firm, along with the Chamber of Commerce, in providing the best housing options for our community. A formal annoucnement regarding the project will be published after the survey results are calculated.

Thank you,
